  1. – Hire someone you know. Ask friends, family and neighbors for names and phone numbers of people they would hire to work for them.

  2. – Get a written estimate and read the fine print.

  3. – Ask if they have insurance and see a certificate.

  4. – Ask for a contract.

  5. –  Pay by check.
