National Coalition for the Homeless Releases Report on Hate Crimes Against the Homeless

Hate Crimes against the Homeless: America’s Growing Tide of Violence, a report released by the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), states that at least 43 homeless individuals were killed in the past year. These violent attacks appear to have been motivated by hatred or bias specifically aimed at homeless persons, most often middle-aged men. [More ...]

“BRATTLEBORO — Couch surfing, living in places unfit for human habitation, or in unstable or unhealthy situations — not because of something they did but because of circumstances beyond their control — is the fate of more than 50 youth ages 16 to 21 in Windham County each year.

The HIGHLOW Project features 24 large-scale color images taken by photographer Ned Castle depicting the “highs” and “lows” of homeless youth in Vermont, including Windham County. [More ...]
