Hate Crimes against the Homeless: America’s Growing Tide of Violence, a report released by the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), states that at least 43 homeless individuals were killed in the past year. “BRATTLEBORO — Couch surfing, living in places unfit for human habitation, or in unstable or unhealthy situations — not because of something they did but because of circumstances beyond their control — is the fate of more than 50 youth ages 16 to 21 in Windham County each year.
