“Nominate a housing property to receive brand new children’s books and programming for residents (300 words)
The Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) is inviting community members to nominate subsidized housing communities in Vermont and New Hampshire to participate in a free program that promote a love of books and reading among at risk children. The winning properties will receive:
An on-site library of free children’s books;
An engaging on-site event with a dynamic storyteller;
A brand-new book for every child to keep.
Eligible properties include state, municipal or privately run properties, apartment complexes or mobile home parks that accept section 8 vouchers or similar programs. Nominations may be submitted by community members, resident committees and boards, housing property staff, staff of another organization, or volunteers. You may nominate yourself for this award. You may nominate more than 1 site.
1. Write a paragraph or two telling us about the property, and how a donation of brand new books will be beneficial to the children and families served.
2. Tell us approximately how many children live at the site.
3. Does the site have a location for a community presentation? Does the site have the ability to host a lending library of children’s book?
4. Give us the name and contact information for the individual who offers programming or special events for residents. (This could be an employee of the property, an employee of another agency, or an active volunteer.)
5. Include your contact name, address complete with zip code, phone number and email address.
Send your nomination via email by June 25th to suzanne@clifonline.org or mail your application to Suzanne Loring, CLiF, and 1536 Loomis Hill Rd, Waterbury Center, VT 05677″
