We are just a couple days out from our annual meeting to be held in Randolph from 9:30am to 2pm Wednesday, September 11 (driving directions). VAHC in the morning will have a joint meeting with the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness.  After lunch, the VAHC Annual Meeting and the VCEH monthly meeting will be held concurrently in different rooms at the same location. Here are some of special guests confirmed to be attending:

  1. Elizabeth Miller, Chief of Staff, Governor Shumlin’s Office

  2. Representative Therese Taylor (D-Barre), Assistant House Majority Leader

  3. Susan Elliott, Community Liaison, Office of Congressman Peter Welch

  4. Mike McNamara, Vermont State Director, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development

  5. Kathleen Berk, Director of Housing Program Administration, Vermont State Housing Authority

  6. Chris Curtis, Staff Attorney, Vermont Legal Aid

At the VAHC annual meeting, members will be electing a Steering Committee and officers for the 2013/14 year.  We are fortunate to have all eight current members willing to serve another year. The Steering Committee asks that you elect the following slate.  Nominations from the floor are also always welcome:

  1. Ted Wimpey, Chair and Director, CVOEO Fair Housing Project

  2. Chris Donnelly, Vice-Chair and Director of Community Relations, Champlain Housing Trust

  3. Julie Lowell, Treasurer and candidate for Ph.D. in Social Work, former Case Manager/Advocacy Coordinator, Committee on Temporary Shelter

  8. Harold Nadeau, At Large Member and Home & Community Access Program Manager, Vermont Center for Independent Living

Lunch will be catered by the Upper Valley Haven Healthy Eating Program for a suggested donation of $5 a person.  The menu will include Caesar salad, homemade vegetable soup, three kinds of wraps (Asian chicken, grilled veggie and tuna salad), homemade chocolate chip cookies and fruit salad with homemade fresh whipped cream.   Take a look at the updated full agenda for the day here.  We’ll see you on Wednesday!
