Source: VTdigger, May 22, 2011, Press Release by David Raphael, LandWorks “Governor Shumlin to Address Regional Sustainability Meeting Governor Peter Shumlin will provide the opening remarks at the upcoming retreat planned for the Steering Committee and Project Partners involved in the ECOS Project – a 2 year regional sustainability initiative funded with a $1 million grant from the HUD Sustainable Communities Project. The gathering is scheduled from 8:30 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday May 25 at the Ethan Allen Center on College Street in Burlington. The program and retreat, open to the public, will bring together over 60 participants from every town in Chittenden County, as well as local, regional and state government officials, and representatives from non-profit and educational institutions. The event will mark the signing of a cooperative agreement among all the steering committee members, representing municipalities and organizations, to formally commit to the project and agree to participate in the required activities and the development of the final products and outcomes developed as part of the project work plan.
