The next Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, July 9, at the Vermont Center for Independent Living, 11 East State Street, Montpelier from 9:30am to 11:30pm. Come early at 9am for coffee and networking! On the agenda will be planning for the September annual meeting and joint meeting with the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness. Bring your ideas for guest speakers and discussion topics. We’ll also be looking for nominees to sit on the Coalition’s Steering Committee. Next up, Kate Ash from Senator Leahy’s Office will update us on recent developments affecting housing and homelessness at the federal level, while Erhard Mahnke will report on the New England Housing Network‘s June trip to DC and meetings with high level congressional staff and administration officials. In a continuing effort to profile innovative programs by VAHC members, Pam Favreau of Vermont Tenants will provide an overview of CVOEO’s “Rent Right” program, which helps people with major challenges to securing and maintaining housing get rent ready. Finally, Arthur Hamlin of the Department of Housing and Community Development will give us an overview of DHCD’s recently completed Mobile Home Park Risk Assessment Tool, as well as updates on other developments in the Mobile Home Park field.
