Plattsburgh seeks housing for evacuees

“The city of Plattsburgh is looking for landlords. About 50 residents who had to leave the flooded Lakeside Apartments are still staying at the Crete Center. But an event is scheduled there next weekend. And since the cleanup at the apartments is not expected to be completed until August, the city is scrambling to find those residents temporary housing. The county’s social service departments will cover the security deposit and first month’s rent. “We don’t want to keep the shelter open for two or three months while Lakeside is being fixed or they seek out other housing arrangements, so we are looking out now to try and get normalcy back in their lives; get out of the shelter and into their own places,” said John Redden of Clinton County Social Services. Landlords who can help provide temporary housing for flood victims are asked to call the Clinton County Department of Social Services Housing Unit — 518-565-3299.”
