Gov. Shumlin seeks student to serve on Board of Education

Shumlin seeks student to serve on Board of Education “MONTPELIER – Vermont is one of the few states with a full voting student member on its State Board of Education, and Gov. Peter Shumlin today urged Vermont students to apply to serve. “This is an exciting opportunity for Vermont’s young people, and I am asking for everyone’s help informing students of our candidate search,” the Governor said. Eligible for a two-year term on the board are secondary students who will graduate in 2013 or later.  During the student member’s first year, they are a non-voting member. In the second year, the student will have voting rights, along with the eight other adult members.  The term for the student who is chosen will begin on July 1, 2011. Anyone interested in applying should visit the Governor’s Web site at http://governor.vermont.gov/ to download an application and obtain additional information. The deadline for applications is May 13.”
