DHCD Housing Policy Specialist & Grants Specialist positions available

Housing Policy Specialist Help ensure all Vermonters have a place to call home.  The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, dedicated individual to join its housing team, create and evaluate policy options, pursue grant opportunities, and engage in planning work that informs the Department’s activities, investments and legislative proposals.  Work will include housing-related issues such as affordability, energy efficiency, disaster resilience, community development, land use and state and federal programs.  Emphasis will be placed on collaboration with other state and housing agencies.   Duties will also include assisting with the development of the HUD Consolidated Plan, overseeing Fair Housing activities, providing staff and research support to the Vermont Housing Council, analyzing legislative proposals, conducting qualitative and quantitative research and presenting results.   Work will be performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of DHCD. Grants Management Specialist The Department of Housing Community Developing is seeking candidates for a position to help Vermonters and their communities recover from natural disasters.  The major responsibilities of this limited service position follow:  Monitors grants and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.  Reviews and advises on programmatic requirements for grant applications and assists in the development of programs which meet eligibility requirements.  Works with granting sources to refine and revise submissions as needed.  Monitors grant expenditures to ensure consistency with grant requirements with applicable laws and regulations and to maximize use of available funds.  Prepares written reports of findings, defines or recommends corrective action.  Participates in public hearings, meetings and committees.
