Fiscal Year 2011 started October 1st and the Government is running under a Continuing Resolution until December 3rd. U.S. Congress adjourned from the last session without passing any budgets. They will come back for a one week Lame Duck Session November 15th to address several budget items. They will then recess until December. Although overall budgets improved from last session, there is tremendous pressure from congress to further reduce the budgets. Senate Adjourns without Funding NHTF

The Senate adjourned on August 5 without passing funding for the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF). As previously reported, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had hoped to move an amendment, which included the NHTF and tax extenders, on H.R. 5297, the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010 (see Memo, 7/30). National Housing Trust Fund Updates
“Previously on the National Housing Trust Fund Campaign: At the close of the first session of the 111th Congress last month, the House of Representatives had passed a “jobs” bill that includes $1,065,000,000 for the National Housing Trust Fund.
