What will the Trump Administration and Congress do about the unmet need for affordable housing in our country?  At this forum, we’ll hear from national experts about what they predict will happen, and we’ll hear reactions from New England speakers about what the impact will be on our states.  We’ll also consider what we can do proactively to encourage a robust federal affordable housing agenda as we begin 2017.

Deadline Extended to Register for New England Housing Network Annual Conference

If you haven’t already registered to become part of the Vermont delegation for the New England Housing Network Annual Conference you still have the opportunity to register.  The deadline has been extended to next Monday, December 2.

The conference itself will take place at the Shearton Hotel in Framingham, Massachusetts on Friday, December 6 from 8:30am to 3:30pm.  Here is a list of just some of the national housing leaders taking part in the conference:

December 6: New England Housing Network Annual Conference

On Friday, December 6, 2013 join the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition in Framingham, Massachusetts at the Sheraton Hotel for the New England Housing Network Annual Conference.  The conference will offer folks in affordable housing and community development organizations all across New England the chance to share ideas and best practices.  In particular many of the conference workshops and speakers will focus on how the economic crisis is impacting housing and support services throughout our region and how to best continue our support for programs and operations with diminishing funding sources available.  Register online now.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, November 27, 2013.  The conference fee is $85.00.  We encourage you to register online.  You can also send your registration in by mail, please see and print the last page of this document.

A little more about the conference:

Join housing advocates, developers, housing authorities, government officials, tenants, lenders, service providers, attorneys, and many others involved in the creation, management, and preservation of affordable housing from all six New England states for a one-day conference dealing with issues critical to our region. Conference participants will learn the latest information from national and local experts, share information on affordable housing and community development initiatives in each of our states, and learn how the current economic crisis will impact our efforts.

Our day will include plenary sessions featuring national advocacy organizations and the housing finance agency directors from all six states; a choice of two specialized workshops; and an opportunity to engage in a “structured networking” session with people working in similar positions from other states.

Conference participants will learn the latest information from local and national experts. The focus of the afternoon sessions is: Why Stable Housing is Essential for Success in Education, Health Care, and Economic Independence.

CHAPA 45th Annual Dinner & Meeting

The Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) announces its 45th Annual Dinner & Meeting.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher of the Rothenberg Political Report.

The meeting and dinner will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The reception begins at 5:30 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 pm. The cost is $100 per person.
