Highgate gets solar power

“BARRE – The Highgate Apartments, a 120-unit affordable housing development in Barre, is getting federal money that will help it go green.

Sen. Bernard Sanders announced on Wednesday that Highgate will get a chunk of a $500,000 grant that will be shared among three other similar facilities.

U.S. sets record for foreclosure filings in 2009

“MIAMI — A record 2.8 million households were threatened with foreclosure in 2009, and that number is expected to rise this year as more unemployed and cash-strapped homeowners fall behind on their mortgages.The number of households that received a foreclosure-related notice rose 21 percent from 2008, RealtyTrac Inc. reported Wednesday. One in 45 homes were sent a filing, which includes default notices, scheduled foreclosure auctions and bank repossessions…” [More ...]

National Housing Trust Fund Updates

“Previously on the National Housing Trust Fund Campaign:  At the close of the first session of the 111th Congress last month, the House of Representatives had passed a “jobs” bill that includes $1,065,000,000 for the National Housing Trust Fund.
